ASTM A519 grade 1020 seamless pipe shall be furnished in the following shapes, as specified by the purchaser: round, square, rectangular, and special sections. The outside diameter size of 1020 seamless pipe can be up to 12-3/4in. (323.8mm) with wall thickness as required.

When specified, ASTM A519 mechanical carbon steel tubing 1020 seamless pipe shall be coated with a film of oil before shaping to retard rust. Should the order specify that the A519 grade 1020 seamless pipe be shipped without rust retarding oil, the film of oils incidental to manufacture will remain on the surface. If the order specifies no oil for the ASTM 1020 seamless pipe, the purchaser assumes responsibility for rust in transit.

Unless otherwise specified, ASTM A519 mechanical carbon steel tubing 1020 seamless pipe may be coated with a rust retarding oil on the outside and inside surfaces, at the option of the manufacturer.
